In my grandmothers kitchen

In this weeks reading of  Eating the landscape by Enrique Salmon we talked alot about food. Its meaning , it joy and taste. Salmon states “Food was the essential ingredient at all our family gatherings”. I feel everyone can relate to this statement. Food is an important part of our everyday life and the number one priority when it comes to celebration. In my family gatherings food is the essential ingredient. Food itself could cause for a gathering. Food is a easy way to get anyone and everyone together. In my family everyone one have there significant dish that they make and it’s usually automatically there responsibility. If that person doesn’t make it then that dish won’t be present because theirs is the best. There’s no better feeling then eating your favorite food around the people you love. In addition there’s no better feeling than watching someone enjoy a meal you took your time to prepare.
Salmón made me realize the huge impact that food has on us. No one ever takes the time to think about food because it has became an exception. For example you wouldn’t go to a birthday expecting there not to be food and become surprised and thankful when there is. We take food for granted and except it to alway be there for us when in reality one day it’s not and that’s when everybody will begin to think about food.
