Today in class, we watched a PBS episode on the rise of urban farming and gardening. The episode describes the need for younger farmers to keep the agriculture industry alive and how city folks are trying to be educated consumers by growing their own foods. The part that surprised the most was how I was somewhat inspired to start my garden one day! Another part of the episode that I found interesting was the growing agriculture in Detroit. That was the first time I heard anything about that and it made wish that the news would report on that positive aspect of Detroit instead of the negative. This episode kind of inspired to hopefully live a healthier lifestyle and to reach out more to farmers markets to get fresh foods instead eating cheap and processed foods.

  1. I agree on how the news should report these positive things going on in society and an attempt to get more people to eat healthier and have a better lifestyle.

  3. I also enjoyed how the episode portrayed farming in all parts of the country and I agree how the news should report more positive things like the farming than the negative.
