In English today, we watched an episode of Foot Forward where they show how easy it is to grow agriculture in urban areas. This took place in New York which is a very big city, and with the help of some dedicated people, shows how it is possible to grow plants in vegetables there. The idea of rooftop gardens stuck out to me because of how they used the space. Since it is a city and there wouldn’t be a good spot to create a garden, the idea of making them on top of the roof is smart. They also showed an example of buildings designed to help plants grow, and they said as of 2018 we have the resources and to do so, but this isn’t a popular job field so it has not been done yet. The idea of all of our local restaurants using these fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables sounds so much more appealing than imported ones. Whenever there is a local farmers market in my town, I also stop by because of how much better the food taste and the quality of it. Overall, the importance of locally grown fruits and vegetables is overlooked and if all of our restaurants had the opportunity to have these goods, it would make me feel a lot better about the food I am eating.
i agree that the produce from local farmers are way better than those of the grocery stores. i also agree on the importance of having restaurants making food with freshly grown fruits & vegies
ReplyDeleteThat great! My english class didn't get to watch this episode of Foot Forward. It sounds like a great episode and I totally agree with you Alyssa, I would love to see local restaurants using food grown locally! It would taste better and it would support the local community as well! Its a win win!
