This week in class I was most intrigued upon the 4 different Native American tribes that were listed and described in full detail. My group was win charge of the "Hopi Tribe". I learned a lot from the brief research I did such as the Hopi tribe taking over 1.5 million acres (which is an insane amount of land). Listening to all of the other tribes was very interesting mainly because of the differences in what they stand for and resemble. It is almost crazy to think that the Native American population is kind of endangered. Surely over time there will not be many of them to carry on traditions and beliefs like they have throughout the years. I actually know of a Native American and he is a spiritualist and performs acts such as healing meditation and Reiki. Reiki is basically a healing process through mediation and channeling energy through touch. The purpose is to restore the well-being of one's physical and emotional health. The meaning and mission that these native tribes set out to accomplish is incredible if you think about it. Majority of them are so humble and peaceful, it is very very rare to find them committing a crime or being in trouble with the law. It seems to me that they are only here to serve good to the world. Reading about the Hopi's, they had a code of laws and one must not break them or else they would be banished from the tribe. Just that right there shows how strict and loyal the Hopi way is. Now with all of the readings we have done this semester so far, it seems to me that the most environmental friendly and earth caring people are these native Americans who are protecting the land that they love and were stripped from the Great Britain sailed and colonized what is now the USA. If changing the world for better means following the foot steps of the Native Americans, then I think we all should. Meaning only killing animals for food and fur for clothing. No animal should be used for just one thing, make the most of what the great animal has. And to make sure we pray and thank God or whoever they believe in for giving us the animal to help survive. Just doing that would make this world a better and more peaceful place to live in.
