Soil makes you happy
Getting your hands dirty in the garden can increase your serotonin levels – contact with soil and a specific soil bacteria, Mycobacterium vaccae, triggers the release of serotonin in our brain according to research. Serotonin is a happy chemical, a natural anti-depressant and strengthens the immune system.
Before the research, I didn’t know about all these facts, but according to my own experience, when I play with dirt, there is just this great feeling that just comes inside you and makes you feel good and relieved. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI agree, when I was younger I loved the feeling of soil in my hands when I used to dig for worms to go fishing.
ReplyDeleteBefore I read this I did not know about the scientific aspects that happen when playing this soil but found it very interesting. When I was a child I used to play in the dirt and made you feel relaxed.
