So far in class we have been assigned to read the first few chapters of braiding sweetgrass. We have talked about mankind's connection with nature based on food. We have read excerpts that talk about how humans are separating themselves from the true meaning of farming. In the excerpt from The Grapes of Wrath the narrator describes the hard work and time that is required to run a farm. However as time progressed, people took shortcuts and had machines complete the extent of the labor intensive work. The narrator depicts a lifeless tractor parked in a barn after its job is done harvesting crops. When a farmer is done working on the farm on the other hand, he sleeps on the farm and repeats everyday. The narrator makes me think of an old farmer with bad hips and knees and hands where you can tell this he or she has put most of their life into growing food. This excerpt is a true eye opener on how much the industrial business has had an impact on America.

  1. I like how Peter talks a little about everything that we did in class and gave his input, next time I might suggest sticking to one thing and adding more personal experience.
