On tuesday we talked about our place narratives. A lot of people associated their favorite place with positive memories of their families. Thinking back about it, a lot of the places were people's favorite places growing up. Even mine was a memory from my childhood. I started to think about how happy and simple those days seemed while growing up. Also how now a days many people do not have those family memories because of technology and how everyone's life is always on the go.
It is sad to think about the past and how close my siblings and I were, but now we are all grown up. We still go on vacation but my siblings cannot always get the whole week off, so they come and go throughout the week. It’s not the same as it was when we were younger, because of all our busy lives. We still are a very close family. It’s interesting to see how much life has changed just in my short period of life on earth. I would say a lot of it could be seen as a good change, but even just seeing how technology has taken over so much of everyday life is scary, because what is going to happen in five or so years. People are so consumed with it these days, it’s harder to make those memories a lot of us had growing up.
I totally agree that technology is both a change for the better and the worse. I think that it would be beneficial if everyone took a break from their phones and whatnot to spend precious time with their family members.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you talk about how families are not as close as they used to be. my siblings and I used to always do things together and now spending time together only happens every couple of months or if we go away on vacations.
