This blog represents the work of my English 102 course at Bridgewater State University. The blog posts reflect not only the readings, but also the students' reflection and critique of the ideas presented. We will discuss and write about the environmental issues surrounding the use of pesticides, as well as the consequences of our current agricultural practices and policies and the moral, ethical, social, and economical implications of these practices.

Significant Places
During class on Thursday we discussed places that we felt were significant in our lives in one way or another. In class I said that I thought of my garndmothers house. When I was saying this I was specifically thinking of the one she had later in my life. Although the other one was a big part as well. I started to realixe that there are many palces that have a lot of significance to my life. For example, my best friend Jack's house. I spent a lot of my time there as a kid in middle school. His mom was almost a second mom to me. I was always welcome and it definitely helped shape me. I always tried to be as polite as possible at other peoples houses. As you should obviously However, I think that this instilled that good quality into me even more than it had been before. Not only that but the countless memories I had with my friend jack in his neighborhood in general. The park down the street was another huge part of my life. We would run through the woods with hockey sticks pretending they were rifles and we were in a battle. We used to skate board and play games all the time. I learned many small skills just by spending so much time out in his neighborhood having a good time. In addition, My house and my neighborhood are even more significant to my life than Jack's. When I was young there were a lot of kids in my neighborhood and I knew some of them very well. I had a group of friends that would meet up and play on the street behind mine. We called it the "backstreet". I spent so much time on the backstreet. Much like the other neighborhood we would spend hours playing games. We played four square, basketball, kickball, football, etc. The most played were basketball and football. When I was young there was an older kid named steven who played high school football. He was not the nicest. We would play football and he would treat me as though he was the coach. Let me tell you, he was a mean coach. Often, I found myself in tears. I was probably not even 10 yet at the time. Anyway, even though it was not the nicest thing to do. I think that it helped me with having a little more grit and determination in that young age. Overall the time I spent on the backstreet changed my life a lot. also my highschool was very significant. It changes me in many ways. Highschool is where you kind of start thinking of what your life is gonna look like when your older. At first I thought I wanted to be a math teacher. I liked the idea of teaching and I am good at math. But throughout highschool I realized I had a talent for many types of art. On top of that I really loved it. The more I did the more I realized that art teaching would be perfect for me. Who knows, maybe that will change. Also, in highschool you learn a lot about who you are and what you are really capable of. For me it was mostly my gift for art. I also realized that I could do well in school if I put my mind to it. Before I thought I was not able to but really I was just lazy. Anyway, my highschool changed my life drastically. There are so many more I could go in to detail on. I guess my hardest job for our next personal essay is figuring out which one I shoulde write about.
