While reading Silent Spring written by Rachel Carson, I found a lot of connections to myself and the book called Braiding Sweetgrass, wonder why? One thing that caught my attention was the fact that the pesticides came out of nowhere and basically wiped out the earth's natural source of living. But it did not come out of nowhere, this was to show how humans are continuously damaging the earth and natural resources. Humans that rely so much on man made things, they were spraying stuff on the earth’s property without knowing they were killing them. Insects are the main reason why these pesticides were sprayed, but humans do not realize we actually do need the insects. They play a major role in the food web, but you know humans only think about today.
This book reminds me of Braiding Sweetgrass because these two, right off the bat is telling the readers what earth was like before humans decided to invade the earth's natural resources and take matters into their own hands. This book also is telling readers what humans do to make the earth's environment sick and slowly die out. Eventually while reading this book, Carson will probably give us her thoughts on what differently to do to help better the earth.
