Silent Of Spring Book Evaluation

Throughout the book, Silent of Spring written by Rachel Carson, the author was trying to make people aware of the consequences of using pesticides and pollution in the environment.Carson also was trying to educate people about the use of toxic pesticides.Rachel Carson was scientist and a naturalist, she emphasizes the idea that chemical pesticides were the main causes of ecological destruction in the environment. She believed that our lives are defined by what is around us. In my perspective the book  was written to make the world aware of  effects that chemicals like, DDT was having on the environment it is mostly about “give and take relationship”,  the author described a place where trees do not have leaves, animals died, contaminated rivers without any  fish, and especially birds that sang in the spring were gone forever. The book shows that uncontrolled amount pesticides can cause damage and even kills not only animal or birds, but also humans. According to Rachel Carson, throughout the book, Carson argued that “How could intelligent beings seek to control a few unwanted species by a method that contaminated the entire environment and brought the threat of disease and death even to their own kind?". The essence of this quote is that nature provides us all we need, and we are not taking care of our own earth. Carson also argued that  “they not only killed bugs but also made their way up the food chain, to threaten bird and fish populations and could eventually sicken children”.
In her book, she provides evidence of how we are destructing our own earth, including all living things and she, also explains how we can develop a healthy environment for all species.Another thing that I found interesting in the chapter “One in every four”, according to the author, “For a century or more after Pott’s discovery there seems to have been little further realization that certain of the chemicals in the human environment could cause cancer by repeated skin contact, inhalation or swallowing”. This quote demonstrates that humans are creating this malignancy that is extremely harmful to us, therefore her job was to make humans aware of this issue that we are facing.
What I noticed in the book is that the author is aware of this issue and she wants the reader to be aware of this issue so we can protect and preserve the nature by stop using harmful chemicals. One thing that I loved about the book is that the author emphasizes the idea that we should preserve, we’re talking about forests being sprayed with chemicals to control pests that can damage the ecosystem. The author reveals evidence about our contaminated planet, and could eventually lead to the food industry.
Overall I really enjoyed the book and  I would highly recommend this book to anyone because people can learn from evidences how we are destructing our own species and also what are the benefits of taking care of the nature.Rachel Carson changed the world,  and now after reading this book in my point of view, now I know that taking care of the nature is just like taking care of ourselves and the future generation.
