Student Presentations at the 2016 Student Arts and Research Symposium

Over the course of this semester, this group of students have read, analyzed, and discussed a wide range of issues, from the environmental dangers of pesticides, the advent of genetically modified foods and the effects on local and global farms and farmers, the environmental impacts of factory farms, the decline of local farms, food insecurity, food deserts...well, just to name a few. This past Monday, the students presented their own research at the Arts and Research Symposium at Bridgewater State Univerity. The projects covered such issues as local food environments, food pantries on college campuses, local farming, and the problems with college dining services. Two groups even created social networking pages that highlighted the benefits of organic food and gardening and presented their members with challenges that focused on exercises that help curb environmental damage. They worked so hard on these projects over the last few weeks and this hard work definitely paid off on Monday. I am so proud of their work, their research, their enthusiasm for these issues, and the way they were able to work together to create some really informative and exciting presentations. This has been such an amazing semester together and I feel lucky to have spent the time with such fantastic young minds!
