This
week in class we talked about three different short stories all of them
connects to each other. The story that was most interesting to me is “A Lost
Wood” by H.M. Tomlison. In this story It was intriguing how the people felt
about the changes that the petrol was doing to the lands. They were building
roads on the lands, the people felt a connection between them and the lands
like the land is a part of themselves. The difference between before they
started the construction of the roads, how it was peaceful in the sense of
there not being any disturbing noises. Also the silent they felt, now that
theirs a road they can feel the car noise the honking they will never feel the
silent and the coolness they felt before the roads were constructed they didn’t
understand the purpose of the signals and the lights because to them they cared
about the lands more than the roads they were building. The lands were a
peaceful place where they enjoy the silent. This reminds me of my home town
where you barely see any cars or hear any noise unless the pleasant noise of
birds cheeping you would feel a pleasant worth. Everybody use to enjoy sitting
outside in a peaceful place where you wouldn’t be bother by anyone or anything.
I enjoyed that reading as well. Though back where I live, my house sits next to the mass pike and even with the noise barrier it is still pretty loud. When I go out at night all I can hear are the cars zooming by. I have grown use to this constant noise and I do wish I could just be silent. So never take that silence for granted its quite beautiful.
