As the years go by I feel that we, as human beings, have taken nature for granted as if its something we own, something in the background no one pays attention to. But we must unveil the curtains and see the big picture. We only have one earth and this is where we live. We were born with nature, much like brother and sister. We are bonded, and yet we don't stop to consider how lucky and how fortunate we are. Nature gifts us with breathtaking landscapes, a place to walk with our feet, and most importantly, vegetation and food. It is our home.
Much like the "Interior and Exterior Landscapes" article, although you don't have to necessarily have a special spiritual connection with the rocks and plants and animals, at least treat the earth with some respect. Treat it like its your own and have some appreciation for it because we are exceptionally fortunate to have it.
I agree with you here. I feel that as human beings worry more and more about industry and economy we move further and further away from nature. It is so disheartening to see how easily people can destroy habitats for their own selfish profit. I think about how rainforests are torn down to make room for farms and how devastating that is for the plants and animals of that habitat. I wish people could take a step back and see the harm that the disrespect of planet Earth is doing.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with the fact that we need to treat the land with respect. Without people using the land respectively, the land we live on will not be usable. Without usable land, it will nearly impossible for the people who live on the land to flourish. I hope the people of our land can figure out a way to be happy without destroying the very land we live on.
ReplyDeleteWhile reading this post, it reminded me much of what I wrote in my writing regarding my relationship with nature. I too agree that we need to be fortunate of what we have. We become so used to the world around us and all that we have that we forget to be thankful and mindful of it all.
