Standing Rock Preservation

After watching the video of the Native Americans, and others boycotting the Dakota Pipeline, it really got me thinking, because before that video, I did not know that it was on sacred land, I just thought people didn’t want it to happen. But, know after knowing that it was on Standing Rock Preservation, I completely stand behind the boycott, (not that I didn’t before) but especially now knowing the full reasoning behind it. I think it is completely unfair that, because of the change of power, everything that people have stuck up for to prevent this from happening has almost been for nothing because now it is gong to happen anyway. Having an oil rig somewhere where people have died from not having money to pay for heat while protecting their land is completely absurd.
I was talking to my mom about this all today, and she began to tell me about a movie that put emphasis on that you do not mess with cemeteries. And even though Standing Rock does not have a big sign for where people are buried, that doesn’t mean that people are not and I don’t think that the government and construction workers have really considered that. Maybe, if they were to think that if that were their family, or their sons or daughters buried there they would reconsider the whole project.
But as I said before, with the change of power, bringing oil into these pipelines are going to start happening a lot sooner than later. So with that said, even if you do not live on sacred land, which I assume most of you don’t, do not take it for granted because you never know when the government will plan something to destroy where you live, too.
