This week in class we looked at two articles. One of the articles gabbed my attention because it was about a local farm and it all started because the women found out that 1 in 5 kids go to bed hungry in New Bedford Fall River. When I think about children that do not get to eat I do not think about America let alone committees close to mine. Reading this made me think that there must be something wrong with our food system. The food that is cheap is not good for you, a person can go to McDonald's and get a burger for a dollar but for fruit at the grocery store can cost three dollars and that won't fill up a person.
Averyl Andrade, the women how made garden found a way to help the people that need it most. I thought that her donations are great. She even donates to Buttonwood Park Zoo weekly. I thought that if she can make a system with cheap health food and can give it those that need it than other people can too. Instead of having these big companies that add harmful things to our food people should start buying from farms again, its healthier for you and it can be cheaper. I think that this was a great article because it showed me that there are other options that are better for me out there.
It is very frustrating how the things that are bad cost less, and the things we need and are not as filling cost most.
ReplyDeleteIt is outrageous how food that is disgusting is so cheap compared to food that is so much better for you.
