Blog Post
During our Wednesday class this week,
Professor Santos had a set of four quotes from the book The One Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka on the whiteboard and asked us to write a response to it.
The quote that really stuck out to me was the quote on page 160 that states “Born
without knowing the reason only to close one’s eyes and depart for the infinite
unknown – the human being is indeed a tragic creature.” I think that the quote
means that the human race is born not knowing the reason why, or what their purpose
on this planet is, and how some of them spent their whole lives trying to
figure out what it may be, only to die without ever finding out why.
I agree with the quote because when
we are born, no one knows what their purpose is on this Earth. I am sure that we
would all like to know what our reason is, but the sad truth is that some of us
will get so caught up trying to make a living that they forget to make a life,
and eventually end up moving into the next life without ever knowing why they
were born in the first place. For those people who will go out into the world
and live their life to its full potential, will eventually come across their
true purpose on this planet.
I agree with your interpretation of the quote from the book. When we are born, we do not know the purpose and there is never a clear reason as to why we are. Everyone makes their own purpose for their own lives.
