Farming
This week in class we started the new project about local food and the farms surrounding Bridgewater. When I went home and started to think about this project I thought to myself, how cool would that be to work on a farm and just be surrounded by animals throughout the entire work day. I have two adult bunnies that had one baby together last month and they live in a hut in my garage. I went outside on Wednesday morning and saw that the bunnies had 5 more baby bunnies!
The following day I posted the one baby bunny that is around 5 weeks old for sale online. I was then contacted by a guy that lived in Carver that has started his own farm this year. He came and picked up the bunny and was talking all about how he used to work on the police department in Carver but decided to start up his own farm. He went on to tell me about to the 30+ chickens that he has on his farm and how he can not wait to start adding bunnies and all other types of animals.
I made sure though that he was not buying my bunny to eat it because a lot of people enjoy the taste of rabbit. He was buying it because it is such great fertilizer for his crops and his little girl is obsessed with bunnies. I am so happy to be able to contribute to the farming culture around here. I plan to sell my other baby bunnies to local farmers to help them grow their gardens and crops.
