This blog represents the work of my English 102 course at Bridgewater State University. The blog posts reflect not only the readings, but also the students' reflection and critique of the ideas presented. We will discuss and write about the environmental issues surrounding the use of pesticides, as well as the consequences of our current agricultural practices and policies and the moral, ethical, social, and economical implications of these practices.

You Are What You Eat
This week in class we were given the task of providing our classmates with a dish that reflected who we were. Specifically, we needed to express our culture or traditions through our meals. This was a very interesting experience. There was a large variety of foods offered. It was cool to see the different backgrounds everyone came from.
I actually expected there to be a lot of desserts. Usually desserts are easy to make, and everybody enjoys them. There were a lot of desserts, but there was also a lot of other foods. Of course the desserts had all different backgrounds. Many were Italian cookies, or pastries, but some were not based on culture but rather family traditions.
The other dishes were similar. Some were family traditions, like mac and cheese, and others were adventurous and new things that involved culture. Every food was different and had meaning. People were able to share what their heritage is, or what their family enjoys. It really gives meaning to the phrase, “you are what you eat”.
