This week in class we were assigned a group project. My group was given the task of inquiring about our local food. This will be very interesting to see how the food provided in our communities differ. Aspects we will be looking at is location, prices, variety, etc.
I come from a small community myself, but there are a lot of locations that provide us with food. The two main sources are Walmart and Stop and Shop. There is also a Cumberland Farms and 7-Eleven. There is also a fast-food location inside 7-Eleven, Dunkin' Donuts. Additionally, we have a local farm, Nessralla Farms. In my own small town of Halifax there is a variety of places to purchase food, so I will be interested to see where my other group members get their foods.
My family typically shops between stores. Stop and Shop has higher prices than Walmart does, but the produce selection at Walmart is not very great. Speaking from experience, if my family purchases fruit from Walmart it will go bad faster than the Stop and Shop fruit. I am curious to see if there are other places in other people's communities.
Hi Heather! Love how you discussed the upcoming group project and how you made a personal connection with it, bringing it back to your own small community. The only suggestion I would make, would be to add quotes that were either said in text or in readings that you could tie in and make connections with.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your fruit example because when my mom shops at certain places she has to buy the fruit unripened so it doesn't go bad so fast.
ReplyDeleteI can see how alot of other towns might have similar stores and the same issue with the prices.
