On Monday, we watched a documentary on the Colorado River shrinking. The Colorado River is described as "the Nile of America". The Colorado is used mainly for agriculture, 70% to be exact. Because of the high demand that agriculture produces, the Colorado is losing it's power. The River abruptly ends, and the end is just mushy sand. Watching this documentary made me angry at how most humans simply do not care about Earth. And because of our greed, we have destroyed a six millim year old river, in only a century. This should be a wake up call to everyone. At the rate that we are going in, we will not be here for too much longer.

We need to put an end to globalization, industrialization, imperialism, and capitalism in order to move some kind of positive direction. One positive thing that did come from the documentary was the once a month rush of water will be flooded into the Colorado to provide more water. This is a great step, but we need to more. People can simply reflect their lives and how they use water. We can take a quicker shower or turn off the water while brushing teeth. Little improvements can turn into big improvements. I still have some faith and belief in mankind I know we can do it.

  1. I agree and simply love your clear passion of benefiting the environment. I have already made a stride in my "environmental foot print" by cutting down on long showers and using refillable water bottles instead of using plastic ones.

  2. I love and agree with the fact that you want to help the environment. I think everyone should make a few small sacrifices that can help benefit the environment some how.

  3. Emily, this is a great point. I agree with you that our corporate greed and the way our society will never be satisfied needs to stop. I have noticed that in recent years, the vampires of our society have done so much to drain our environment.

  4. I agree with how you feel about the water supply and how it is decreasing because of our greed. This is very good point and we are going to have to make a change before the water supply keeps decreasing at the rate it is around the world.
