relationship with nature

“Most of us walk unseeing through the world, unaware alike of its beauties, its wonders, and the strange and sometimes terrible intensity of the lives that are being lived about us.”( Carson 249).
Growing up I was fortunate enough to have fields of grass and woods in the palm of my hands. I got to see  a lot of nature’s beauty, the way the land changed throughout the seasons. Many people did not get to have that same experiences as I did growing up. Even living in today’s society, people are always on the move, there's little time to stop and experience the beauty of nature. People do not have this connection to nature, which leads us to have such a poor relationship with it.

If people were able to have more positive experiences with nature, I think more people would understand the need to protect it. We are so focused on the human race and what should be done to help us. We forget so easily that we are not the only living things of this earth. It so easy for us to spray pesticides and not think happen the harm we are doing to the other organisms, as all as we can “protect” the things we need. Even though spraying pesticides hurts us too because we end up putting it into our bodies.  Using these chemicals are harmful and do not help anyone. It hurts the food chain, because it kills off certain species, and other species are affected by this. It also does not help us as humans because we are putting chemicals on our food that we ingest. We need to create a more positive relationship with nature, instead of trying to change it, because everything that was created on earth, was meant to be here for a reason. We as a human race do not have the right to change that.

  1. I like the quote you started it with. It's crazy how we think we are helping ourselves out, but we are really damaging ourselves in the long run. As humans, we can be so oblivious to what we are really doing to ourselves and the earth in general.
