Preserving the nature

Throughout the book called “Silent Spring” written by  Rachel Carson, the author emphasizes the idea that we are responsible for preserving the environment. In the last class, we discuss some question and the following quote “We must change our philosophy, abandon our attitude of human superiority and admit that in many cases in natural environments we find ways and means of limiting populations of organisms in a more economical way than we can do it ourselves.” (page 261). This quote means that she believed that we should change our attitude, we should take care of nature and to be a role model to the next generation because humans have been one of the most important modifiers of nature. The negative impacts on the environment are directly related to the the use of pesticides.
She also emphasizes the idea that today most people live in big city, where they do not usually have contact with nature. In my opinion, the main reason for this change is caused by human activities. In order to solve these issue problems, each individual should help to our society with more responsibilities so the next generation could learn from them, and preserve the nature.
She author believed that all this issue is one of the main cause of cancer which is the second leading cause of death in the United States. Exposure to chemicals in the outdoors, or at work can increase  your chances of getting cancer, however, a person’s risk of developing cancer depends on how often they are exposed to these chemicals, and unfortunately the author of this book died of cancer in 1954, however, she still responsible for the biggest environmental revolution in the United States.
