While we finished up Silent Spring, we learned that there
are multiple safer ways to get rid of certain things without harming the rest
of the world around it.
If it has been proven that there are
many safer ways to take care of some of the issues in the world today, why
don't we switch over to them right away? It blows my mind that just because
something may cost a little more money, it will be ignored because there is a
cheaper option. The cheaper option isn't always the best and safest
option.
For example, a lot of the foods that our out
today have a huge range of prices. Things that are easily accessible and easily
made are cheaper but that doesn't mean they are better. Things that have less
chemicals, take longer to make, and are overall a lot healthier for your body
are going to cost you a little bit more but in the long run it will be worth it
for your body. If we put that same respect to what we put in our bodies to what
we put out in the world there could be a huge change.
I like the thing you said about putting the same respect to our bodies. If we respected and valued ourselves the way we do with money, the world would be a different place. Especially in the United States.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like there is a common pattern of humans refusing change. For example, the reason people refuse to look at different options of pest control is the same reason so many people do not like the idea of looking for new energy sources that are renewable. People would rather stick to what they are used to rather than to what’s best for them.
