Nature VS Chemicals

In the book called “Silence of Spring” which is an environmental science book by Rachel Carson, the author was biologist and writer responsible for the biggest environmental revolution in the United States.  The book it's about the effects of pesticides on the environment and how it can be harmful to nature humans, and animals. She argues that the use of synthetic pesticides were causing environmental problem especially in the late 1950’s after the industrial revolution.
In the book, the author describes a place where trees do not have leaves, animals died, contaminated rivers without any fish, and especially birds that sang in the spring were gone forever. Why are Pesticides harmful to nature?
Pesticides are substances that kill pests or weeds, and it is extremely toxic. She emphasizes the idea that pesticides can contaminate water, soil and other vegetation, and also it can be toxic to a host of other organisms including fish and birds.
The book shows that uncontrolled amount pesticide can cause damage and even kills not only animal or birds, but also humans. In my perspective, I think that the author is trying to make people aware of this chemical that can significantly affect the world around us. The consumption of pesticides creates a vicious circle, and the author was trying to educate people in our community to perverse and protect our environment.
The plant also suffers impacts with the use of pesticides,  affects its physical structure and its metabolism. Humans are also greatly impaired by the use of pesticides if they consume plants that were grown with these chemicals substances.

  1. It is crazy to think about waking up in the summer without hearing the chirping of birds. Rachel Carson is truly a hero for working so diligently on her book even in hard times. Without its publication the spraying may have persisted for longer, and who knows maybe we would have a silent spring.
